What to do when I receive such an e-mail?

This page was created to help you to correct a B/L syntax error.

For each point in the following list, there is a link to the corresponding page in the online documentation. We hope that this information will help to solve the error.

Please check the following issues / error causes in the concerned position in CargoSoft or the master data:

Container number is missing in the goods description.

Formatting errors can also cause this message.

This can occur if a file is copied directly from another file (e-mail, PDF, Excel, etc.) and pasted into the address or goods description in CargoSoft.
These include special characters and spaces as well as line breaks that are not directly visible.
As a solution we recommend retyping the goods description manually to avoid formatting errors.

  • The specified systemic field length is exceeded by a line break, for example. The field length can be identified by pressing the key combination ctrl + shift + 7 when clicking in the corresponding field.

Dangerous goods shipments: the UN number is interchanged with the IMDG code.

The flashpoint is not recorded in four digits.

Decimal figures must be rounded accordingly.

The content regarding the first and second level is not correctly entered.

The Consolidation tab may be activated, but without the entry of house files.

→ Page in OnlineDocumentation: Consolidation tab Seafreight

The B/L is sent as 'containerised' ('container in container').

  • This happens if house files have been created and a container has been stored in it.

An additional reason for the syntax error is the lack of contact data (telephone, fax, email) of the sending user in the employees' master data.

Inform your administrator if necessary.
