Working with the FormGen

The form generator is crucial when it comes to B/L fields - especially additional fields.

It happens that carrier offer fields in their bills of lading that are only of importance for certain services or shipping relations and therefore use more than the fields usually shown.
This may also occur in your House B/L/NVOCC B/L, since the data you would like to communicate to your agent or other parties are business-specific.
These may be reference numbers, shipment information as per purchase agreement, order numbers, mode of transport or others.

The form generator contains a list with all customary terms and fields that usually occur in document traffic. This list is the so-called field list. If a field is missing in your B/L - whether it be a single field and a single B/L - that cannot be used through the order, you still have the option to generate this field yourself.
This field will appear amongst other field names you have defined on the B/L tab → Additional fields tab in the seafreight module and can be filled for this order.

If this field is used in your B/L (which is selected by means of the form code), i.e. pulled into the B/L and placed at a specific place, it is printed in the B/L layout as well as transmitted to Dakosy as an additional field.
