Pallets in the B/L

Pallets as outer package

As of 2005, pallets can no longer be used as packaging or certain countries (USA, CANADA, GUAM, INDONESIA, MEXICO and PUERTO RICO).

So that the pallet can still be mapped, there are certain input scenarios that can be found at http://www.bill-of-lading.de → Interface Documentation → Electronic Data Interchange (EDI) → Bill of Lading → Display pallet (from 09.06.2005) are published:

Unapproved packaging codes

The following packaging codes are no longer permitted for the countries listed above:

PX = Pallet
PB = Pallet, box
PD = Pallet, modular, collars 80cms * 100cms
PE = Pallet, modular, collars 80cms * 120cms

Error: The message will be returned in case of error. The system assigns error code 378 = Palette als Verpackung unzulässig.

Pallets in the container

When loading a container which contains pallets, the goods description must be entered in a certain way in order for Dakosy to be able to process the B/L.

If the goods description for the quay request and for the B&L ought not to be used simultaneously (which is the case only in the rarest of cases), please work with

  • Version H for the quay request

  • Version B/O/S for the B/L.

Container on level 1

The container is entered on level 1 as a container with container no., quantity and packaging code only.

By means of the packaging code, the program recognizes that this is a container (this requires that the basic data are complete).

Only S.T.C. is allowed for the contents.

Contents must be entered on level 2.

Pallets must not be entered as packaging codes here, either.

Example: Container on level 1

Option 1 for pallets: on level 2

On level 2, pallets can be entered as text in the contents (packed on X pallets/stowed on …) for the quantity loaded on the pallets.

The actual packaging codes in level 2 are the packages stowed on the pallets.

Example: pallet as outer packaging level 2

Option 2 for pallets: on level 3

Alternatively, the number of pallets can be entered on level 2.
The program automatically converts the entered pallets on second level into packed on X pallets.

  • Level 1 contains the container as is displayed in the screenshot above.

  • Level 2 contains the pallets as outer packaging only:

Example: Pallets as packaging codes on level 2

  • Add a level 3.
    On this level, the packaging items are entered per pallet line including contents and weight:

Example: Number of packages on level 3

Pallets as general/lcl cargo

Even when loading pallets as general/lcl cargo, the description of the goods must be recorded in a certain manner so that Dakosy accepts the B / L.

Entry option 1 on level 1

General cargo on pallets is entered on level 1 with the number of individual parts on the pallet.

The entry of the 1st level can be made by entering the number of packaging items on the pallet as quantity and packaging code and entering the pallet in the contents.

Example: Breakbulk on pallets in level 1

Entry option 2 on level 2

Alternatively, the pallet can be entered as outer packaging on the first level and the packages on the 2nd level.

Example: Pallets as packaging code with S.T.C. on level 1

Content and weight can be entered on the 2nd level with marks, quantity, packaging codes, content description and weight.

Example: Number of packages on level 2
